Education

After attending Sutton Grammar School I studied at Oxford for four years, graduating in 2018 with a First Class Bachelor’s in Physics and Master’s in Mathematical and Theoretical Physics with Distinction. I continue to study these fields in my free time, and am starting a PhD with the Theoretical Physics group in the King’s College London Mathematics department in October 2019.

Teaching Experience

My first experience in a teaching capacity was an internship at Salesian School, an Ofsted-rated Outstanding state school in Surrey. I taught physics to Years 7, 10 and 12, both through full lessons and more tailored assistance for smaller groups. I have been tutoring since graduating, mostly focussing on mathematics at A Level, but ranging all the way from KS2 to third year undergraduate physics. This has also been through a variety of formats, from regular weekly sessions to concentrated periods of teaching, including residentials.

Biography

I have a great passion for learning, and mathematics in particular, which has shaped my life. Beyond my area of formal education, I try to cultivate interests in classics, history and philosophy. Above all, I hope to achieve two things with my students: firstly, to instil in them that same enjoyment of learning that is the source of endless motivation and confidence, and can turn uphill struggles into rewarding challenges; and secondly, to provide the large-scale picture without which it can be hard to see the wood for the trees.

Teaching Experience

I am a firm believer that the key to academic success is different for every student; there are no set boundaries or  teaching methods which apply to every child. Therefore, I strive to help each one of my pupils find an approach to learning that is tailored to them as an individual in order to attain the best results possible. Through my teaching I aim to build a solid foundation on which I can work on increasing the self-confidence of my students in order to invigorate their approach to all aspects of the academic curriculum. My ultimate goal as a tutor is to illuminate the strengths of my tutees and, most importantly, to encourage them to approach their weaknesses with fearless determination rather than the worry of ‘getting it wrong’. By adopting this attitude, I am positive that any weakness will be improved in no time! At school and university, I found that the most rewarding results are achieved when one applies oneself to the task at hand with enthusiasm, a level head and hard-work – a philosophy which I hope my pupils, like me, will come to carry with them both in and out of the classroom.

Biography

I am a professional tutor alongside working as an actor while living in London. The nature of my work enables me to have a flexible schedule in which I am able to commit myself wholeheartedly to my time as a tutor. I am confident in teaching a number of subjects to GCSE and A Level and from my own experience, feel capable in teaching children with dyslexia. I enjoy having the opportunity to provide a supportive role for my students as we work together to spark an enthusiasm and thirst for knowledge!
