Teaching Experience

Jan 2014 – Apr 2014 Student assistant at Knightsbridge school (age 3-13)

I am a strong believer that everyone learns differently and in the importance of taking the time to understand how each individual student learns best. With every one to one session I aim to help improve a student’s confidence and encourage them to look at problems in new ways.

When working on mathematical and scientific problems, it is often important to patiently build on fundamental understanding and to use clear step-by-step methods that demystify topics.

I understand through my previous tutoring and own experience of one to one help, how valuable it can be to be taken through topics at your own pace. This gives a student time to slowly think through and understand problems before speeding up through practice.

Biography

I am an engineering master’s student living in central London, the nature of my mostly project based work means that I have a very flexible schedule for tutoring. I particularly enjoy supporting students and seeing their confidence grow as they progress.

Due to my ongoing work using maths and scientific principles on a daily basis I am in prime condition to teach but also still understand the trials and anxiety of tacking new topics. I also have first-hand experience of competitive school entrance exams and can give advice to students at all stages.
