What was really important at the beginning of the 11 plus journey for us was to have our daughter assessed because we didn’t know where she was at and there were subjects that she had not been doing as part of the national curriculum in her state school. When we had that, we’d sort of done the diagnosis and felt like we had a plan to work with.
We are really grateful for her tutor’s support and encouragement. Confidence is invaluable and she was a stable source of it for our child. I hope all that my daughter has learned from her tutor will stay with her because it was transformative in so many ways.
As a parent, I felt a bit guilty about having signed my son up for boosters instead of, say, football camp; shouldn’t he be allowed some fun? But at the end of the first day, he begged to go back. I thought he was joking, but he went for the rest of the week and asked to be put on the list for Easter hols too. The half-term holiday boosters really helped me with what I was doing and gave me a really big push just before my my exams. They were challenging, yet interactive. Union Tuition London teachers were always be there to help if I got stuck. On Friday, we had a proper exam day. When I received my results in my report, I was pleased with them!
